Maryland Rocks!!!
Okay. I'm lame. The blog entries have been slow to come over the last two weeks. I've been from coast to coast in the matter 12 days time. In those 12 days I was in Portland for the handbuilt show, saw and meet with several Moots dealers and riders. Two days in the office and I was off to Maryland for another 5 day trip. Over those days and visits to numerous Moots dealers’ one thing is clear .....The cycling community is truly unique. No matter where you are people are into bikes. It's a great thing. On two wheels, everybody is a friend. I've got more corners of the world with cycling brothers and sisters than I can remember, but all are memorable in their own way. I’m a lucky guy and I know it….. The last trip was to the Mid-Atlantic region, Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and the like. During my trip I was fortunate enough to have a host in the form of Michael Klasmeier of
City Bikes. His family, Susan his wife and two great kids (Emma and Jeremy) allowed me to stay in their home for 4 nights and 5 days. I based myself there as I made visits to Moots dealers and potential Moots dealers. Not only did they let me stay but they made me feel like family. I have two young kids myself and always miss them when I travel....the Klasimiers made me feel at home and made being away a little easier on me. Michael even set up some appointments at some shops that he felt could be a Moots dealer...the guy is truly one of a kind. I got to go to a family dinner at his parents’ house! A family reunion of sorts with a dinner that rivaled Thanksgiving....thanks to Mrs. Klasimier! If you've been following the blog over the winter you have probably heard we have had a huge amount of snow this year. We all have cabin fever in the worst way for sure. I was happy to see the bare earth in February, even got out on a road ride and a kick in the pants mountain bike ride. Michael had set up the ride with a good sized posse of shop guys and friends to join in on the fun. We rode at Gambrill State Park outside Fredrick, MD….great place, killer trail. Nothing like throwing yourself into some nasty trail mid-winter…..it took a while to get my trail legs but was soon feeling like a kid in a candy store. Posted is a photo of Mike throwing himself off a little bit of Maryland trail. Over the last couple of years Mike has been telling me about the
Shenandoah Mountain 100 held on Labor Day weekend…after seeing the video and experiencing some of the trails I’m going back come September.
Thanks a million to Mike and the crew at
City Bikes for making me feel part of the family. Our door is always open for you.

Good to hear that City Bikes treated you right. They are by far the best in the business. Purchased my Moots from there in September 2007. Next time you come to the Washington DC area, please bring some of your mootastic gear with you
Thanks for the shout-out Jon! You are more than welcome any time you want! MD riding is rad. We’ve got it pretty good here.
See you soon.

I spent a summer working at a camp right out there. Buddy and I took a road ride and stumbled onto Camp David. The guards did not want us hanging around too long.
Later in the summer I took a bunch of teens hiking and we got too close. Nothing to discourage a nice hike like the sound of a round be chambered in a M-16!
